yay for Fifi !!! i think she should become the mascot for all of your games :)
though the thought of letting him float off was tempting by the time id ummmed amd ahhhhed gary had already gone to be heroic so i really was going after him (shhhhhhhh dont tell anyone)
was much fun, thank you for driving us all insane! would definately play again as long as the real insanity is not spreading :)
Yes, I'm all for more failed SAN tests and an inevitable, creeping doom... So more games, please!
I may also put together and run my own CoC adventure, but it will take some time to put together. Any tips?
I so very much enjoyed my return to FGC with the best CoC Keeper that I know (maybe flattery will keep the SAN checks at bay). Seriously, though... thanks Nic. It really was a great adventure and fitted into the time available really well (I was quite convinced, at one point, that we were way off completing it by the end of the evening). And it was a great bunch to play alongside. I'm certainly hungry for more if anyone else is up for it.... even if only to see what clippings from Hello magazine are used for character faces nex time :-)
Mark
cool in which case i shall dig up one of my ideas and rework it, or we could finish off those monks, theres another playtest night coming up in April, i believe Alexander wanted to have a go at running a Cthulu, that might be a good time to do it, otherwise will schedule a date after that
Nic (The Third)
Should point out that my adventure is slowly taking shape. Oh, and you'll either be playing police or social workers.
Here's the preamble:
cool i'm up for this
Pre Gens? if so i wanna be a social worker called Harmony Jones, a big black sassy no nonsense kindda gal
wid 'Attitude' and a penchant for country & western music and Jeremy Kyle
Alexander:
Is this a long or a short game? If it's a one-shot, why not put it in the RPG showcase on 5th April? Otherwise, just grab a slot and schedule an event. I'd love to play, but I'm away from the club March through June.
@ Nic
I'll do pre-gens - the aim is to have characters who've just driven over from the station after a long night of sitting bored in a layby, or who live in a Camden semi and read the Guardian while wearing baggy cardigans. Utter mundanity, in other words. Add eldritch urban horror and away we go...
On the other hand, if you want to roll your own character up, please do. Just remember that the adventure takes place on the Summer Solstice, 2011, in Harringey. Yes, I've thought this through.
@ Gary
The aim is to make it a long one-shot, and I'm minded to make it the first in a quadrilogy of adventures. April sounds good as it gives me time to juggle the adventure with work and indeed my own crazed scribblings.
( I do of course owe a certain debt to Erick Wujcik's infamous kill-the-PCs marathon adventure, Death Traps - just so you know.)
Fantastic, Alexander. When you're ready, add your game to the 5th April calendar date, and I'm sure you'll have takers.
And here are our four dramatis personae, to be written up properly on character sheets. I may create one or two more characters (some of Oz's hangers-on who are wondering where their dealer's got to), but these will do for now:
Matilda Clugg
Age: 44
One of the department's most seasoned social workers. Despite being a bit thick, she has both experience and a winning personality on her side. She's also a good cook and reasonably happy mother of two. Far too nice, mumsy and mild-mannered for the horrors she is about to witness, Matilda is the archetypical example of humanity about to be chucked under the cosmic steamroller...

Harmony Jones
Age: 20
A rather pugnacious, saracastic character, Harmony mainly achieves her goals through a combination of bluster and sheer force of presence, of which she has lots. Tall and slender, she does kickboxing on the side mainly as a way of burning off all that energy, and she is suprisingly athletic for someone who sits behind a desk all day. Having only just scraped past her NVQ in social work, Harmony has been assigned to Matilda until she can prove her worth, which she rather resents, not least given Matilda's constant attempts to nanny her. Nonetheless, the department has high hopes for her, as long as she doesn't get into too much trouble...

PC Gary Jessop
Age: 21
Smug, impudent, lecherous and rather vain, PC Jessop is proof (if any was needed) that the police like to set the bar low. Not particularly distinguished in any area, apart from a certain toughness, he compensates by being a wannabe hardman and having some basic riot training. Mildly racist and homophobic, these flaws are balanced out by him being just as rude and suspicious towards everyone else.

Sergeant James Oakleigh
Age: 41
A rather plain and unassuming copper, Oakley knows he's not particularly good at anything, but strives to do his best. Annoyed by the braggart Jessop, Oakley will not tolerate the little twerp's worst excesses, especially given his own guilty past as a somewhat thuggish constable. Penitent and haunted by some of the grim sights he has seen as a policeman, he focusses on people skills. That said, he also has had training in the firearms squad, back when he briefly flirted with a more exciting career than the one his wife persuaded him to settling into. Entertains notions of early retirement and a life spent in the garden, but feels too duty-bound to do so.

im in, dibs on Harmony, do u want me to write her up or will u be providing?
I created Harmony just for you, Nic!
I'll provide filled-in character sheets, though if you want to write her up (and, indeed, draw a picture), then please do!
I quite fancy Matilda Clugg if there's a space for me. I can play "a bit thick" really well most days.
You really are going to town aren't you Alex. Most newbie CoC Keepers start off with The Old Corbitt House (aka The Haunted House aka The Haunting) (http://www.chaosium.com/forms/coc_quick_start_color.pdf).
@ Toast Crumbs
Then consider Matilda to be yours! As for the effort, this idea's got a life of its own, so I'm just writing it as it comes to me...
Anyway, here are the two reserve characters, a motley pair of crusties called Zazog and Maisy...
Whoops! Need to correct the skills of the first four characters as I miscalculated how much their Edus and Ints came to. Now duly fixed.

Good game last night, it was interesting to see Richard loose his sanity for real and become an out of seat ranting maniac by the end of the session
in case the plot left u a bit lost heres the short version
the ship passed through the centre of the universe which, as any good Cthuluist knows is where Azathoth lives, it managed to pick up a fragment of his body which attached itself to the ships computer and sent it mad, Cultists knowing of the mission tried to blow up the ship by placing a sleeper agent amongst the crew, this caused massive damage which the insane computer tried to fix using Nanites, (The cancerous growth in the Drive room) when it ran out of materials it started to dissolve the crew and use them, but being insane it left some of them still alive (Man in the wall, navigator tapping keyboard with one finger and the flapping hand in the floor) the remaining crew figured out a bianary tone being repeated in the computer and ran a program to translate it, they also developed Nan Ex to combat the nanites that had infected the crew, but all too late, all the crew got dissolved except the Captain, who had kept all the Nan Ex to himself and killed any who tried to take it from him after going insane from the dreams Azathoth was sending him.
three years later the PCs wake up
using the Tone, Gary's character heroically lead the Fragment of Azathoth from the Mainframe, but Marks character failed his Computer roll to open the Outer hatch in time and Gary was engulfed by the thing, the hatch was blown and he and it was sucked out into space, only for the rest of the party to witness the opening of an eye the size of a continent and blink at them, before losing 100 SAN each they realised they had returned to the centre of the Universe and the Daemon Sulton
Good paranoia throughout, Mark, good to see u again, Alexander good use of Latin, Gary you did your best to try and bring order to a slowly going mad group, and Emms thankxs for the haribo, you should have left Richard float off into space rather than let him go insane for real,
Up for running or playing in another Cthulu if Peeps are interested, let us know and we'll try and organise it
Love Fifi
