The history of Nephilious
There was once a lady called Eveline Rogers who lived in the small village of Declisto in the region of Mendev. At the age of 18 her village was attacked and all the females between the ages of 13 and 30 were kidnapped and taken prisoner. Little did she know at this time the horrors that awaited her. She was taken by these cruel slave masters deep into the land of Worldwound. Here she was sold to a demonic sorcerer. This sorcerer had made a secret pact with a band of devils where he would suplly human females as slaves in exchange for control of a large demon army. With this army he waged war in the Worldwound to try and break into the region of Mendev . During this time Eveline was used as a sex slave by a Tiefling demon called Egogrouc. Egogrouc was a powerful Tiefling Assassin and used his powers to infiltrate the Mendev region to assassinate important people and political leaders. Because of this a small elite unit of soldiers was formed in the Mendev crusade army to find him and capture or kill him. Eventually this band of soldiers found the Tiefling assassin and his demon hoard and a battle ensued that lasted for many days. Eveline and the rest of the slaves was eventually set free by this band of good soldiers. But unlike the rest of the slaves Eveline who was now pregnant, fled the safety of the good soldiers fearing they would kill her and her demon spawn child. She fled one night stealing a large portion of food, a dagger that once belonged to Egogrouc, a large portion of money and a horse and fled through the Worldwound to the land of Varisia. There she managed to buy a slum of a house in the poorest district of the city of Korvosa. Here she gave birth to a Tiefling son who she named Nephilious. The son was picked on and bullied for most of his life and at the age of 13 his mother died. He left home and has been wondering the continent ever since. At the age of 14 he bumped into a female elf called Shalelu Andosana. Half starved and on his last legs of energy the elf lady took a shine to him and decided to teach him the ways of the land. He spent a number of years with Shalelu and they have formed a close friendship.
Trait 1. Normal. SECRET
Trait 2. Jade Regent. Student Survivalist. Survival is now class skill. +2 trait bonus on survival checks. +1 Trait bonus on any foe who threatens Shalelu.
Sounds cool! For anyone that is interested the game is running tomorrow. I will keep turning up to run this until it works dammit!
Hopefully I'll be playing in Army of Shadows (nic's game) this coming Thursday the 1st. At which point Nic and I will decide how we're gonna run Pf and 3.5 as in when each of our games are gonna be, whether we can both get enough players etc. So I expect i'll be seeing you there Richard.

Check here p.13-15
Due to your negative charisma score even if you put the point you get at level 2 into Shalelu you would only get a score of 4.
i gave u my write up online, lawd knows where its gone now, hopefully i saved it on an external somewhere

For those that weren't there, we finished clearing the swamp: found more loot in the remains of the 2nd shipwreck then detoured on the way home to check out the huts of the witch and the halfling hermit. Found both dead and took their stuff. Killed the thing that killed the witch, and investigated the mysterious demise of the halfling.
Then back to town to prepare to travel north to investigate the castle. We will be travelling with Sandru's caravan; Ameiko, Shalelu & Koya will be coming too. We decided to divvy up all loot and sell off chests, jewelery etc to buy max. equipment; haven't quite finished this.
I'm not sure how much loot detailing to do here as I get the feeling not everyone reads it here, and it's very slow doing it on my smartphone. Might do a separate post on the matter.
It would be helpful for people to familiarise themselves with the caravan rules before next week as there won't be time to learn them on the night (see Jade Regent player's guide). I've read them inside out and come up with proposals for best purchases and caravan feats (and completed a caravan sheet) so if you're happy to go with my suggestions then that might save some time. Again, happy to detail my suggestions & justify choices, but not sure if have time to do it in full here.
SUMMARY: we need to buy a wagon as there's too many of us to fit in Sandru's three. A covered wagon (500gp) would give us greater flexibility than a supply wagon (300gp) which would give us only just enough seats and excess storage. We also need to probably spend something like 50gp on 10 units food (should last a week), 50gp on two units of repair supplies, and 50gp on 5 units of trade goods (can only sell max 5 per settlement so no point more than this). This is assuming Sandru's too skint to buy any of this himself. This should wipe out most of our remaining cash.
For the caravan's feats I'd suggest Circle the Wagons at L1 as little else boosts AC, and Enhanced Caravan at L2 as nothing else boosts caravan stats and we need to boost stats to meet the prerequisites for other feats. And Offense 2, Defense 3, Mobility 1 and Morale 3 at L2. (I'm assuming caravan is L2 as that is what we are; when I get L3 it should do too.)
And I've come up with suggestions for who takes what role and how this would affect our Attack, AC, Security & Resolve scores - again will prob have to explain on the night as would take too long here.
Alex
Your choice for the caravan looks good to me, I suppose it goes on how many fights we’re getting in to determine what we pick at L3, either Toughness for Hp or Consumption to save us money (Do we consume food as well or is it just the horses?)
Do u want me to print out a Caravan Character sheet?
Sean do u want a hard copy of my Back story?
My role will either be Guide or Caravan Guard, although I can cook a mean Rat Stew
Sean - you did get my background story, as it was in the character sheet I gave you, and pasted up somewhere else on this site.
If you can't find it, here it is again:
Letter from the Ram Gordos Rat Cooks Guild, to Winona Swampaxe
Sister,
Excellent news from you, earlier, with the Health food threat from the north being defeated. your swamp and the surrounding areas are safe for now. We suspect the dishes they are armed with have been made by Oliver Jaimo, and the Smithing Delia Witch that you destroyed seems to add Garlic to this Pot. The group you are Cooking for has been very hungry, and you should endeavour to track down more paprika.
Keep watch for Worrel Antony and further Blumenthal incursions.
Ern.
PS: Spoon unshattered, so far? You might need to put something else on the base of Mother's pudding, as I doubt you are going to eat it in anger. Ever. I told you that it is much more satisfying shooting chefs in the face!
Sean,
Bring a 3GB USB key on thursday, got ya some bits for pathfinder
Btw, before we packed up on thursday I got down everyone's roles in the caravan, they are as follows:
This means you have 10 characters in the caravan, as a covered wagon holds 6 and a fortune teller's wagon holds 2 and a supply wagon holds 2 you do have just enough space for all of you. The wagons have a combined consumption value of 4, each person also has a consumption value of 1 (I honestly cant be bothered to make scratch 0.25, lets just go with the well fed halfing stereotype). Making a total consumption value of 14.
Consumption is reduced by 3 for each scout (as a scout does not have a consumption value and gives 2 back) unless you want some scouts to be watching for ambushes in which case the consuption is reduced by 1 per scout not 3. A cook also reduces consumption by 2, this makes the final consuption per day to be somewhere between 9 and 3.
So while another wagon is not necessary if you buy another one you can hire on more cooks or guards and you would have room for paying passengers, which may or may not appear in the campaign.
I had:
* Sandru - driver
* Bevelek - driver
* Vankor - driver
* Alphonse - driver (unless anyone else has Handle Animal; could otherwise be guard, scout, guide, healer or "spellcaster", which would allow him to also be entertainer!)
* Koya - fortune teller
* Shalelu - guide (anyone with Know:Geog could do it but I think she makes most roleplaying sense.)
* Clunk - guard (though I believe he has Handle Animal so could replace Alphonse as driver if Alphonse has to fill some other role such as healer.)
* Gryd - guard
* The Lady - guard (could be scout but loses 3/4 hp if strays far from Alphonse; could also be healer!)
* Winona - scout (could alternatively be guard or guide)
* Scratch - guard (as I believe he doesn't have Survival; gives us 1 guard per wagon)
* The STILL un-named tiefling (!) - scout (as I believe he has Survival)
Furthermore, when in town I'm hoping we have enough people with Diplomacy or Bluff to manage 5 traders: Sandru, Ameiku, Richard, Scratch (?), and Alphonse at next level.
Consumption would be + 8 for our horses, assuming we went for an additional covered wagon. And The Lady is only there for max 16 hours/day, so maybe her + Scratch could count as one person for consumption purposes? So max total = 18, - 2 or 3 scouts, - 2 for cook, - up to 6 more if scouts forage rather than guard. So I'm assuming 14 or 16 unless settlements are VERY far apart.
We're short a healer, a wainwright and an entertainer. If we could spare the increased consumption Ameiko could boost our Resolve score by being entertainer rather than cook. Wheelright is something that can be done part-time as and when we need it (as with trader) - assuming someone has Craft:Carpentry or Profession:Engineer or Wainwright (NOT Knowledge:Engineering). Healer I think we can manage by reorganising as and when we need it, but ought to check. (Bad idea for Koya to be healer as we'd be significantly debuffed without a fortune-teller.)
(N.B. Shall we just accept the Tiefling is called "Richard", or will he be another "Michael Smith"?)
You are quite right about me forgetting about the other drivers. Speaking of things I forgot about Ameiko is able to put up 2k gp for additional equipment for the caravan and I have just edited the exp table because like a fool I left out the story awards. Meaning the Caravan will be 3rd level as Alphonse is now 3rd level.
Though I was wondering if we need to buy horses for our scouts. The rules don't require it but logic would. A caravan could be doing up to 56 miles a day and the scouts are expected to keep up on foot?! (And they include a dwarf and a halfling!)
Gnome Chefs
In ages long past Gnome Chefs, in their never ending quest for cakes, pastries and Pan au Chocolat, dug deep into the mountain roots. Eventually they dug too deep for their own good and they came across a portal to Hells Kitchen through which poured a horde of Cous Cous the like of which the world had never seen. After countless meals they managed to eat the lentils but in the process the Gnomish race was all but wiped from the face of the earth. Consequently they are now an extremely rare species, there are very few to be seen anywhere mostly fishing in someones guarden.
This is, incidentally, one of the reasons why sprouts are so rare as there are no Gnomish chefs left to cook them.
To those whom it may concern, a wayfinder is a magical compass which my shed light as per the spell at will. As a compass it gives a +2 circumstance bonus on Survival checks to avoid becoming lost. Finally it has an indentation on the reverse; but what purpose that serves is a mystery for now.
Tonights Menu
Orckish Pickled Decapus Tapas
Very, very chewy, with a coriander, chile and red wine vinaigrette
Elven Decapus Salad with Oregano Oil
Served cold with fennel, rosemary, fresh oregano and an olive oil and lemon dressing
Dwarven Grilled Decapus
The rich, meltingly tender taste of the marinated Decapus mixed with the smoky taste of the grill. Coated in a lemon, garlic and oregano sauce
Gnomish Stewed Decapus
Stewed with garlic, tomatoes, white wine, dill and parsley and just a hint of Chile
Serve with crusty bread.
Halfling Braised Decapus
The Decapus is braised in its own juices, then cut it into pieces and dressed with a paprika-garlic and lemon sauce when it is still warm.
Sorry Richard had to sell the compass for condiments

Seeing as there I have been asked to run PF because of the overspill last week I think this could work so if anyone wants to play, I don't have a definite group yet so any number of people can show up. I will also be running this next week if enough people are interested.
